Control Station and dataParc Partner to Improve Plant Efficiency

Using an API to transfer dataParc Historian data into Control Station’s PlantESP will help manufacturers get to the root causes of common problems and provide advanced warning of mechanical, tuning and system interaction issues.

Control Station and dataParc have developed a partnership to help manufacturing plants better leverage data from dataParc’s data historian using Control Station’s PlantESP software. PlantESP uses historized data to optimize control loops.

The control loop performance monitoring software provided by Control Station communicates with the dataParc Historian—as well as all other major historians—using industry standard protocols. An API (application programming interface) mapping function allows users to integrate dataParc Historian data tags into PlantESP in a semi-automated process as part of a software development kit (SDK).

The API transfers historized data from the dataParc Historian, including set point, controller output, manipulated variable and mode, into PlantESP, which proactively monitors control loop performance across a plant or multiple sites.

This close monitoring of loop performance “helps users get to the root causes of common problems,” said Dennis Nash, CEO of Control Station. “Furthermore, it provides advanced warning of mechanical, tuning and interaction issues.”

By focusing on performance metrics, PlantESP helps users sort out the historized information and focus on business and technical key performance indicators such as mechanical, PID tuning and PID-driven node interactions to focus attention on key issues.

“PlantESP turns historian data into actionable intelligence and our jointly created SDK will greatly reduce plant implementation time to enable plants to better leverage their historian to realize ROI quickly,” said Nash.
